Desde el siglo XVI la localidad sevillana de Villanueva del Ariscal situada en la comarca del Aljarafe celebra su anual procesión de Corpus el día 25 de julio, festividad de Santiago Apóstol. Esta particularidad reside en una bula que solicitaron por aquel entonces a la autoridad eclesiástica para celebrarlo en otras fechas debido a que en junio estaban los habitantes del pueblo, campesinos en su mayoría ocupados en las labores de la recolección lo que les impedía tener tiempo suficiente para celebrar la fiesta de Jesús Sacramentado con el boato y esplendor que ellos querían. Así con el paso de los años ha quedado configurada una procesión de Corpus compuesta de siete pasos : San Francisco de Asís, Santiago Apóstol( patrón de la localidad), Virgen de Loreto, San Miguel arcángel, Inmaculada Concepción( patrona de la localidad), Niño Jesús y la custodia. Los pasos que son portados por costaleros llevan acompañamiento musical, en esta edición de 2014 las bandas participantes fueron en el paso de Santiago la Agrupación musical de Nª. Sª. de Valme de Dos Hermanas, en el paso de la patrona la Inmaculada Concepción figuraba la Banda Municipal San Antonio de Padua de la localidad y detrás del paso de la custodia la Banda del Maestro Tejera de Sevilla. Su anual procesión constituye toda una oportunidad para los amantes de las cofradías de contemplar una procesión singular en muchos aspectos.
